She couldn’t have handled this, I know that for sure. Funerals never were Cissa’s thing and now that it’s her sister that will be in the casket… let’s just say that planning it would be difficult for her. I’m no expert in these sorts of things but I am fully capable of listening to someone tell me what’s expected of a funeral and that they’ll be taking care of it. Event planners really do come in handy sometimes.

The ceremony will be in the late evening. There won’t be many visitors; just family. Her mother-in-law will be coming from her estate in France, and our family will be there. It must be terrifying to die with so few people around that will truly care that you’re gone. I don’t think that would matter to Bella as she wasn’t ever afraid of anything that I could see. She had no fear of dying and no fear of loss. Some of us aren’t so lucky to have complete contentment in that sense—I know I have fears of loss and the names of those fears happen to be Narcissa and Draco. Cissa feared losing Bella. Bella would have killed Narcissa if Voldemort had told her to.

I’m the one holding the spade here, in a sense. Narcissa is upstairs, Draco is sleeping, and I have been writing letters back and forth with the event planner all day. Our family is in one piece after this whole ordeal and I am still astounded beyond reason. I couldn’t be more thankful that I am holding an indifferent spade for a deranged sister-in-law and not a grieving spade for someone I loved. I should show more compassion for my dead sister-in-law but it’s difficult when I’ve seen what she became. She was several years ahead of me in school but I remember how she used to be the rambunctious girl who tried out for the Beater position in her last year of school just for fun but refused it when it was offered to her. She was the one willing to curse anyone who messed with her younger sisters but she became the one who wanted to kill her younger sister for her Master. I believed in the same ideals once, I still hold a number of them as valid, but the Dark Lord’s mistress took everything to a new level. I almost wonder what it was that set her over the edge.

Tomorrow is the date for the ceremony. Mrs. Lestrange should be arriving any minute now. There will be many unanswered questions, I believe, but it’s not my job to understand everything.
